La nourriture en Bretagne

Les Bretons sont très fiers de la nourriture de la Bretagne.

Quelques exemples sont ...

1. Galettes

Galettes are savoury pancakes. 
Elles sont faites avec de la farine noire.
Le traditionnel est un "complet" qui a jambon, oeuf et fromage
On peut avoir de nombreuses garnitures comme les tomates, le fromage, les champignons, les saucisses, les épinards et le fromage de chèvre.

2. Crêpes
Crêpes are like pancakes.
Une crêperie est le nom du lieu où on achète des crêpes et galettes.
Vous pouvez avoir beaucoup de saveurs. Par exemple, citron, sucre, miel, amandes, chocolat, noix de coco, caramel, banane, nutella.
Ma préférée étant la crêpe que j'ai mangé ce week-end. After Eight.

3. Caramel au beurre salé

This is salted caramel, and it's everywhere in Brittany!

On peut trouver sous forme de sirop, d'une pâte, dans la crème glacée.

Habituellement, je le mange avec des crêpes.

4. Galettes de Bretagne/ Galettes Bretonnes.

These are actually butter biscuits, with a similar taste to shortbread.

On peut les manger avec crème de caramel aussi!

5. Cidre

Enfin, nous avons le cidre.

Normalement, les gens boivent du cidre avec leurs galettes et leurs crêpes.

On boit à partir d'une tasse.

Dans une crêperie on demande "une bolée de cidre".

Noël en Bretagne

Avant les vacances de Noël, je suis allée à Lannion, une ville près de Guingamp.

J'ai rendu visite à mes amis qui vivent à Lannion

Il y avait beaucoup de fêtes de Noël.

Tout d'abord tout le monde décoré l'arbre de Noël de la ville.

Ensuite, les enfants ont rencontré le Père Noël. 

Pensez-vous que c'est bizarre que sa femme est plus grand que lui?

Puis, c'était très étrange. Il y avait une grande parade de Noël, mais c'était celtique!

Il y avait un groupe celtique avec cornemuse, clarinettes et des tambours. Ils ont mené la parade.

Les gens ont paradé à travers la ville et nous nous sommes arrêtés quand nous sommes arrivés à la place de la ville.

Il y avait des tentes avec du vin chaud et du chocolat chaud gratuitement!

Après la première parade, les gens  distribués des lanternes gratuitement pour une autre parade. Malheureusement, je rentrai chez moi avant la parade, mais j'ai obtenu une lanterne!

C'était une manière très différente pour célébrer Noël, mais j'ai passé une journée fantastique.

I'm starting to settle in now, so I thought it would be a good time to answer some of your questions.

What is the food like?

The food here is really nice. There is lots of seafood like prawns, mussels and oysters because I live quite near the coast. Also, the specialities where I live are salted caramel sauce and galettes, which are like savoury pancakes. They are delicious. My favourite galettes have cheese, mushrooms and egg.

What are you going to do when you get back?

When I get back to the UK I have to finish the rest of my degree at university, and hopefully then I will become a teacher.

Were you scared?

When I had to move to France, I was really scared. I didn't know what to expect and I was scared of feeling lonely. Now I have settled in, I feel a bit better, but sometimes I still get scared when I have to talk in French and I'm not sure what to say.

Where do you live?

I live in an apartment in one of the lycées I work in. It is a separate building from the school. I live with the Spanish Assistant who works in the same schools as me.

What is the weather like?

The weather is quite similar to the UK. It rains quite a lot and it's always very windy here. It was quite warm at the start of October, but now it's freezing!

Have you made friends?

Yes, I have made friends with the girl I live with, and also with lots of other language assistants who come from all over the world. Some are German, Spanish, South American, Austrian, Irish etc. It has been difficult to find French people to make friends with because I'm not allowed to be friends with the students, and the only other people I really see are the teachers, who are very nice.

How do you travel around Guingamp?

Usually I walk everywhere because the town is so small. If I travel to other places I usually take the train or the bus, but in France many people to covoiturage which means car sharing, but I haven't done this yet.

Do you have to stay in one city, or can you go to more?

What are the schools like?

The schools are VERY different in France. First of all, school starts at 8 a.m. and finishes at 5.30 p.m. Also if you fail a class in France, you have to repeat the school year again, so sometimes the ages of pupils in one class ranges from 14 to 20! Most students have to live in the schools in the week, because their homes are far away, and they just go home on the weekend. Also, the students wear their own clothes to school.

Je suis arrivée !!!

J'ai commencé mon voyage en France le 25 Septembre. C'était un jour triste pour moi quand j'ai eu à dire au revoir à ma famille et mon fiancé, mais c'était le début de mon aventure ...

J'ai pris l'Eurostar de Londres très tôt le matin, et je ne pouvais pas porter mes bagages parce qu'il était si lourd.

Finalement, après près de 8 heures, et beaucoup de larmes plus tard, je suis arrivé à Guingamp. 

Le temps était magnifique, beaucoup de soleil et pas un nuage dans le ciel. 

J'ai passé mes premiers jours dans la maison d'une enseignante de l'école où je travaille. J'ai réussi à ouvrir un compte en banque, acheter un portable français, et commander l'Internet. En France, il est si lent une fois que vous commandez des choses, J'ai attendu pendant deux semaines pour mon internet qui est enfin arrivé, mais il n'y a toujours pas de signe de par carte bancaire qui devait arriver il y a une semaine. 

Le beau temps a changé instantanément et il pleut fortement tous les jours, c'est comme être en Grande-Bretagne!
